Dan McGuire could have accepted numerous, more profitable career positions in corporate agribusiness or major staff positions offered with federal agencies or in the U.S. Congress, said Lush. "Instead, he stuck with using his talent to represent us farmers, the entire rural sector and our farm economy. We're glad he did"

Lush added, "Dan McGuire had a major positive impact on shaping federal policy for the benefit of rural economic development. Dan is a leader, on renewable energy policy, especially the ethanol RFS, the best policy success ever for farmers and rural America. Internationally, Dan led the way on the watershed 1980's farm policy/export analysis public education effort by hiring Chase Econometrics to research commodity price and export quantity relationships. That was cutting-edge, groundbreaking and essential farm and trade policy work"
